Dried Blood Spot (DBS)
In the recent years, DBS sampling for EPO testing has emerged as a potential alternative to invasive blood sampling. DBS samples can be transported through regular or express mail delivery services at ambient temperature to laboratories for analysis. There is no need for maintaining a cold chain during transportation, and samples do not need to be collected by trained phlebotomists, thereby significantly reducing the cost for collecting samples.
DBS Collection Cards (Art.1440)
The DBS Collection Cards from MAIIA Diagnostics contain 10 pcs filter with pre-punched sample collection areas. 2-3 drops of blood (50 µL) are collected from a finger prick. The blood is soaked onto a collection filter and air dried for a few minutes.
When DBS samples arrived to laboratory, just pop out the DBS disc and put it directly into our Ant EPO gel column (Art.1430 or 1460, order separately), for extraction, immuno-purification and concentration of EPOs. This can be done with a regular tube rotator, some kind of vacuum source and a microcentrifuge. Easy and rapid purification without any expensive equipment.
